Rush, I know you are busy with your new career, but if you don't get us started soon, we'll all just start babbling. AEL is up to pick the next movie, if she wants, and then it goes to Ben.
I can start talking about it tomorrow. But here's a question - what did you think of Huffman's appearance? I loved that first scene when we were introduced to Bree. And her voice!
I thought she really looked like a man who was transitioning into a woman. The voice had that characteristic, too. I thought it was very well done. At the beginning of the movie, I felt like I was looking at a man dressed up like a woman, but at the end I felt like I was looking at a woman, and it had nothing to do with the surgery. I had just come to think of that character as a woman.
I had the same experience, kc. By the end, I thought of the character as a woman. I think the turning point for me was the part with Calvin Many Goats.
Yes, the scenes with Calvin were very poignant, I thought. And they didn't have the usual awkwardness and clumsiness that scenes like that often have (where there's some gender twist). She was very graceful. I also thought that she began to seem increasingly maternal as the film progressed, and that probably contributed to my seeing her as wholly a woman by the end of the film.

Erin and I watched it last night. Maybe it's time to start babbling!

Pick away Ben.
I actually rented TransAmerica. It is sitting on my kitchen counter.
I realize the next step to being a responsible blog member is to WATCH the movie...
Yes, AEL, watch the movie. You will enjoy!

I think the skin had something to do with it -- they did something make-up-wise to make the skin on her face look masculine.

Huh. I thought it was "Many Coats."
